The most important part of goose decoying is reconnaisance.
To ensure the best shooting possible, our work begins hours, sometimes
days before our clients arrive. Our guides check and re-check
the flightlines both into and out of the feeding areas. Only by
taking the time to observe the birds and their latest habits can
we be confident that we are positioning the decoys and hides in
the best possible places.
We ensure that everything is setup (and yes that includes our
clients!!) before daybreak to avoid missing any early birds. |

Our decoy patterns are setup to be as realistic as possible,
with a mixture of feeding birds and scout birds.
Unlike some guides, we do not place all our decoys facing into
the wind - experience has taught us that geese are just as happy
feeding at angles to, or even facing away from the wind. |
Once the decoys, hide and guns are deployed, the geese calling
can begin. Alan Croston has 20 years experience at calling geese,
and it shows. Geese invariably respond to his expert calling. |
